Garnet Teardrop Hereafter
Inspired by Victorian Mourning and Memento Mori pieces, a small hand conceals a skull while clasping a natural garnet teardrop, a symbol of sorrowful remembrance. The band of braided hair, a reminder of everlasting love and mortality.
Garnets, the birthstone of January, get their name from "Granatum" the botanical name for pomegranate. Pomegranate's red-jeweled seeds have been a womb symbol since the matriarchal age. Garnets have ancient connections with the feminine life force and are said to bring about strength and positivity.
